Wolf Longings
chant of firelight dismissed
sweet fragrance of Wisteria fading all to fast
knew of a longing I could not touch
buried deep within my aching
long ago silenced by a shattered Scream
which pieced my world back whole again
Wolves shake within us
those realities we shun to face
their mammoth pain grieves as our own
and so such longings are left to starved embrace
that which we fear the most we shall become
until we ride it like its never been ridden
until we expose the secrets that we've always kept hidden
until we live it like it could never die
until we suffocate what it could not breathe
and so wolves relinquish their longings
for us to grasp what's never been pursued
for us to weep what's never been wept
they will forever let go until we finally
reach out . . .
and hold dearly and tightly what we've never kept
the longings of wolves ache within us
waiting to be embraced
