He went off to Die

He went off to die, and didn't tell me
this Dog I've had for fourteen years

guess he knew and didn't want to see

the Ocean Tidal Wave of my shocked grief and tears

~
He wanted to remember me with that smile on my face

everytime we were together in our own "special place"

And I will never forget what this Dog meant to me
how he was just as much a part of family

who touched me in places no human could feel, nor see

~

God, I'm left with this aching hole inside only YOU can fill

for the loudest of Sounds is when Sadness stands still

and listens for the Echo it left behind
in the bleeding Soul and searching, questioning mind

And so here I am left alone in the Mist
wondering who is around to witness
my sad wave goodbye

to a Dog I loved more than Life itself
who went off to Die.
